A Snowy Start to November :)

Wow, what a great wrap up we had to October in our classroom!

I am beyond thankful for all of the support and grace I receive from each of you day in and day out, but conferencing with so many of you reminded me just how lucky I am to have teammates like you in growing your child this year. Thank you, thank you for being the wonderful parents you are!

There are not many blog posts left to come from me for a while, as today marks one week until my due date.

Thank you for your support of Mrs. Lopez as she transitions into my role soon, in the midst of the CRAZIEST school year ever!Β

Grace, flexibility, and patience will be the name of the game…pretty much what it’s been all year! πŸ™‚

Thank you, thank you, thank you for meeting with me about your child this past week. I am so thankful to have incredible parents as teammates in their child’s education; you make my job great!

Halloween Party

Wow, what a day at the end of quite a week…we made it! I’m not sure who was more tired by the end of our Halloween day — the kids or the teacher!

Thank you for the awesome donations, both from the SignUp Genius and other generous gifts of fun treats, decorations, and trinkets to make their Halloween celebration a little more special. I’ve said it a million times, but I’m blessed with the BEST parents!

Substitute Teacher

A reminder that Mrs. Lopez will be in this week to observe, and also to teach a bit.

I am due November 8, and plan to work right up until Baby makes its debut.

I’m so excited to have Mrs. Lopez in our room β€” she is wonderful, and will be an excellent teacher for your kiddo, as sad as I am that it means I don’t get to be in the classroom with them for a while πŸ™

Thank you in advance for your support of Mrs. Lopez, just like you’ve been so kind, supportive, and gracious to me in this weird year. You guys are the best group of parents out there!

Curriculum

This week begins the first lesson or two in 3rd grade content and curriculum. I can’t wait to partner with you to help your child reach his or her full academic potential this year!

  • Reading: We will continue our unit centered around mysteries this week.
  • Writing: This week we will continue Unit 2 of our Writer’s Workshop, β€œChanging the World: Persuasive Speeches”.
  • Word Work: Students will be working on spelling patterns based on individual needs indicated by a spelling inventory we took in September. This will be done through both small group and individual practice.
  • Math: We will continue Unit 2, learning our remaining multiplication families and introduction to multi-step story problems. This is HARD for kids β€” we will really need to draw on our grit and growth mindset throughout this unit! Thank you for your reinforcement of this at home πŸ™‚
